Sperimental and Clinical Cytometry LAB
The Laboratory of Clinical and Experimental Cytometry has been active at CEINGE since 2006 and carries out investigations for the diagnosis of various pathologies, tumors and not (acute leukemias, chronic lymphoproliferative diseases, lymphomas, multiple myeloma, paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria, myelodysplasia, pediatric immunodeficiencies, AIDS, disreattive pathologies, collagen diseases, autoimmune cytopenias, CD34 + stem cell monitoring in autologous and allogeneic transplants), and for the evaluation of the patient's clinical course through the follow-up for the search for the minimal residual disease.
The biological samples that can be studied with the flow cytometry technique are mainly composed of bone marrow aspirate and peripheral blood, cephalorachidian, pleural, ascitic, bronchial lavage, suspensions of lymphoid tissue and bioptic fragments.
The number of cytometric surveys carried out in 2017 was 6,947 and is in continuous and progressive growth compared to previous years.
Finally, the Laboratory carries out investigations for the diagnosis of Paroxysmal Night Hemoglobinuria, a rare pathology of acquired hemolytic anemia.
